One-quarter of adult children provide physical or financial care to an aging parent --that proportion has tripled in the past 15 years, according to a recently released MetLife study. Employed caregivers over 50 stand to lose an estimated $3 trillion in wages, pensions and Social Security benefits because of their caregiving responsibilities, the study found. The average losses total more than $300,000 per person.
